General faqs

  • Our hours of operation for dog walks are Monday - Friday from 10am-4pm.

  • This depends on your schedule.

The Weekly Subscription best suits our clients with a regular work schedule. We will set up a recurring schedule for your pup in Time To Pet, and you can request changes and cancelations in the app. This guarantees your pup will always have a spot on the route, week after week.

As Needed walks best suit our clients who may only need our help a few times a month. As Needed walks may be requested up to one week in advance and are subject to availability. When you request a walk, we will reach out to our team to see who can accommodate the walk. If approved, you can see who will be walking your pup that day and at what time.

  • We require two modes of entry for your home. One is for the regular walker to use and one is for backup. We can use client provided keys, a client placed lockbox or check out keys from a concierge desk.

  • This fee is used to compensate our team for the time spent at the meet n’ greet. Meet n’ greets are scheduled without a time constraint as we believe it’s vital to keeping our human, canine, and feline friends safe. We take the time to get to know your pet, their environment, and how to best care for them while under our watch. The New Client Fee also covers additional administrative tasks which include but are not limited to creating an account for you in our software and returning keys upon closing out your account.

Dog walks

  • That depends on a number of factors. Here is what we recommend for each type of walk:

    SOLO WALKS

We recommend solo walks for puppies and older dogs who might have too much or not enough energy to keep pace with a pack.

If a dog is reactive to other dogs at all we request that they have a solo walk.

    GROUP WALKS

We recommend group walks for any dog who is social and would benefit from being with other pups. We do have a few requirements for a dog to be in group walks:

They need to be friendly towards all other dogs, no matter their size, breed, or temperament.

Unfortunately we do not have the capacity to group dogs based off breed, therefore we require that all dogs in a pack are friendly towards all other dogs.

They need to have good ‘leash manners.’

Dogs that tend to stall, excessively pull, or want to play rather than walk may still need some time on a solo walk. Our number one goal is to ensure we can keep every pup safe, and we also want to make sure each dog in the pack can get a good amount of distance on their walks, as exercise is one of the top priorities for many of our clients.

  • Yes! We require unaltered dogs to have a solo walk. Some dogs can be reactive to unaltered dogs, so to help keep all dogs safe we request that unaltered dogs have a solo walk until they are fixed.

  • Yes. Dogs under 6 months of age are not eligible to join a group walk.

  • Life happens and so our policy at Blue Dog is to roll with the punches. We can accommodate our subscription customer's schedule changes with weekly rates so that you can save money but continue to know your pup is in good hands for the long term.

  • We will immediately let you know if for some reason your usual team member is going to change. All current customers will get a chance to meet your new walker before they begin their walking schedule. In addition, we carefully transition doggie-knowledge from walker to walker so that your new walker has the "ins and outs" about each of their charges.

  • Our team is excellent at meeting new dogs and helping them to feel comfortable and safe before going out on a walk. Many of our clients with shy dogs leave out favorite toys or high-value treats for us to use. If your dog is aggressive towards strangers or territorial of their home, we will not be able to walk them. We do our best to assign each route to one walker who you and your dog will meet at the meet n’ greet. However, we have a team of backup walkers who take the place of our full-time walkers if ever they need to take time off work. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to schedule meet n’ greets with each of our backup walkers.

Cat visits

  • We will do our best to have the same person visit your cat each day, however, this is not something we can guarantee. Everyone on our team are animal lovers and will provide your cat with top-notch care. During your meet n’ greet, we will collect information on your cat and their needs and create a profile for them. This will help us to provide consistent care no matter who is visiting your cat.

  • Safety for all two-legged and four-legged friends is our top priority! All cats must be friendly towards people. Shy cats are okay! If your cat shows any human aggression during the meet n' greet, we will not be able to care for him or her.
